Depression is here
Today I am feeling really down. My treatment for Hep C has been stopped and after several tests I find I have two tumours in/on my liver one of which is too large it is inoperable.
So King's College Hospital have informed me that I am no longer a suitable candidate for transplant but they have thrown me a lifeline in the form of a relitively new procedure called chemoembolisation.
This is where using the same techniques they use for an angioplassy etc to seek out the tumours blood supply and getting as close to the main supply they inject the tumor with a concentrated dose of chemotherapy drugs and then block the blood supply which both stops the chemo from going around the rest of my body and kills off the oxygen and nutrient supply the tumor requires.
This will mean I will have a rough couple of weeks but with any luck this will kill / shrink the tumours.
Problem number one -
I was supposed to have been admitted to King's yesterday but they have been a bit busy and there was no-one going home so no bed.
Problem number two -
I live a good two to three hours away from the hospital (by train) and have now got to sit around this morning to see wether or not they can call me in for the procedure (I will assume it was booked for this afternoon) without any of the preperation / councilling they were going to do yesterday and today.
So all I can do now is sit back and wait.
